In Latin, “Ars” signifies Art, while “Vēna” stands for Vein – the Vein of Art is what drives Yaël's vision of Life. Art nourishes her soul in the same way that blood is essential to one's body.
Consequently, Ars Vēna is the untamed artistic expression of Yaël Enivel, while The French Elk is her business identity.
Yaël ENIVEL is a Citizen of the World (though on paper she is French & American) she loves being on the road to share her Art - that's inspired by this Beautiful Country called Earth.
She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts earned at the Art Institute of Seattle. Afterwards, she went on to earn a Master's degree and then a PhD in Humanities from the Université Côte d'Azur in Nice France - focusing primarily on Art History, Literature (poetry) as well as History and how all inevitably are intertwined in an Artist's work of Art. This has helped her create visuals that aim to be perceived as 'unspoken' poems (such as visual metaphors, oxymorons or rhymes...)
She has lived in France, on the East Coast, the West Coast, the islands and in the Southwest - the diversity of the landscapes and the people she meets fuel her art and creative expression. She believes that as long as she is breathing there is possibility for existence and adventure.
Having traveled to dozens of countries and growing up between both cultures (France & USA), Diversity is key to her artistic expression. Yaël believes Art is a universal language that surpasses boundaries, denies segregation and has no race. As Ralph W. Emerson traced the path to follow when he said “words make every metal cordes of your heart vibrate”, she simply wishes for her Art to bring that same feeling to anyone.
Once Emily Dickinson asked a bird “Why sing, since no one can hear you?” It had answered her “My business is to sing –”. For Yaël, her “business” is for her Art to touch as many souls as possible while bringing light and lifelong ties.
I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there's a pair of us!
(Emily Dickinson, poem #FR260)
